Monday, February 8 was the beginning of the Chinese New Year

The New Year celebrations begin on New Year's Eve,

the big party is on New Year's Day, and the action

continues for the next 15 days.

1st graders made Dragons and Lions

in honor of the celebration.

We paraded around the school to scare off the terrible NIAN!

We returned to our Lair to store away our lions and dragons to share at open house with you!

Then we watched a wonderful video to

learn more about the Chinese New

Year Celebration!

It all ends with the first full moon of the year, fifteen days later with the Lantern Festival, another great carnival and the perfect ending to this great holiday season.
