1st grade is celebrating Chinese New Year!

   

We were inspired by the New Years Parade in San Francisco!

3rd graders made some wonderful works of art in honor of Dr. Martin Luther king Jr. day.

Three wonderful Mom's Mrs. Lindskey, Mrs. Rayo, Mrs. Franks and a student, Maycey helped make this display look awesome today!

 We also had 5 Students whose art works can be seen at PISD Administration Building for the next few weeks as well! They were entered in to the yearly Plano ISD Art Contest.

CULTURE FEST MANIA!

Every year Christie Elementary has the best multicultural night in Plano!  

This year, as always, every grade level will be making something wonderful from some place in our world! There is a link for each grade level to learn about each process or artist below.

4th graders are discovering the country of Ghana and investigating the process used to create Kente' and Adinkra two famous African textiles. Then, they will be designing creating their own printing making project inspired by what they have learned.

Finally 5th grade will be traveling to Egypt to discover the land of the Pharaohs, pyramids, mummies, and hieroglyphs. Every fifth grader at Christie will be making a fabulous Printmaking metal relief to go with our unit.

We're down the home stretch for the Holidays!
Most students are creating POP UP Cards in Art.

3rd, 4th and 5th graders are creating beautiful Chihuly Inspired sculptures!

Third, Fourth and Fifth grade students are working together to create beautiful translucent sculptures reminiscent of the famous glass blowing artist Dale Chihuly. 

More about Chihuly

 We are using water bottles the students color with Sharpy. 

Then, we cut the water

bottles into spirals and change their shape using a heat gun.

Next, we assemble the strips into analogous color groups that are close to each other on the color wheel.

At Last! Here is an example of two of our fabulous finished works of cooperative art! It took a while, but it was worth it!

Something fishy is going on in Second grade!

Second graders created fabolous 3 dimensional construction sculpture fish! 

 After finishing our Eric Carle Animals we used the scraps to make fins.

 As we recycled, we learned about where our fins should go and and how many fins fish really have.
